I'm a current MBA Candidate at WSB and in general terms what people really need to be accepted here is to have an undergrad diploma, great GPA, and, at least for 95% of the candidates, at least 3 yrs of work experience (there are few exeptions) with extraordinary achievements! Of course , a good GMAT score is also required! In addition, is important to say that the combination of factors is the most important!!! Hey by the way, not to forget that if you have some great social work to your credit,it also helps. Most of the top B-schools look for this aspect of any personality, which in a way represents the leadership aspect of a person. getting into top 5 schools needs atleast near about 1,00,000 $ i..e.. about 45 lakhs..u can even refer the web-sites.secondly u may also see wharton takes only 3 students from asia every year..that's it..no more..coz of the diversity reasons it requires for it's class-rooms..so any body seeking admission at wharton needs to have a great profile plus a score of above "700"..without a work-ex and with a woork-ex around "670+".. I had been following the business schools my self, and well Wharton and Harvard top the list. Wharton is hard to get into. I agree with the gentleman currently enrolled there and that only about 3-4 asians get in every year, as they dont score too well on student diversity. Harvard on the other hand is a better prospect. Both these schools require - 1. Good Gpa (min of 16 yrs education)2. Great Gmat scores (650 + for ppl in the US - there are about 800 students every year put on the waiting lists with GMAT scores of around 700 - so the sky's the limit). 3. Work experience (in some MNC - number of years is a tricky question. I reckon a year or 2 would do - but then again)4. You need to have atleast $100,000/- remember student finance applications put u at the end of the queue! and u need to have a minimum of one years tuition and stuff - so u need around more than $ 30,000 to start with. The most important thing I believe is your personality and charachter. Its true, u need to have everythng perfect, but its ur personality their looking at. How it reflects in your life, in what you do and the choices you make. Sorta like what ur asked in an interview at an MNC. There is no set list of attributes that they look for, but they look for a complete person, who knows himself, who's not trying to be something that he is not, just to get in.As for who ever is applying, well, if you think you are ready to apply and are confident, then go ahead, why wait, there is nothing that says that you can apply only once. So go on ahead, the earlier you get in the better! my bro got a call from WBS for an interview...he has 2.5 years of work experience from GE..GMAT 610 ...imp they see ur social work and leadership qualities...my bro was in a leadership programme in GE ...even m an aspirant...but dont feel tht u need atleast 3-5 years of work ex..and gmat of above 650 or 700..tey dont need Scientists....he recently got Harvard call too....so just keep trying....write proper essays...and stuff
