If you're looking for guides to MBAs I would advise Which MBA, from The Economist. I found some errors in the Brazilian book mentioned, and Which MBA has more information anyway. Or you may choose to get both. I would say that the better choice in applying for top 25 MBA programs would be to consult www.businessweek.com forums.For a Doctorate in Economics, I think Chicago GSB might give you better contacts than Harvard. I am not sure about now, but if I remember correctly a few years ago Chicago had the biggest number of Nobel Prize winners in Economics. And this using either the "current professors" criteria or overall. In my humble opinion, if you have big goals as an academic, you should consider both programs very carefully.
