HBS Graduates Comments

At HBS, the largest drawback and at the same time the source of its greatest strength is the size of the program. It is the student's responsiblity to find her or his niche and not get lost in the numbers. --Finance

I was somewhat skeptical of the applicability of the case method to all subjects (especially finance and accounting) but left HBS a convert. The case method also forced me to improve my public speaking skills, which had previously been a weak point. Professors were very dedicated to our learning, and the administrative staff was outstanding as well. --Marketing

I was making $650,000 a year as a 25-year-old banker before B-school. Now I have raised my own private equity fund to go out and buy a $5 million to $20 million company -- that is something I could never have done without the specific relationships built at HBS. The whole experience -- because of the caliber of my classmates and the connections of faculty -- has opened up my eyes to opportunities I never thought possible for me at such an early stage in my career. --Entrepreneurship

HBS is plagued by a reputation of harshness and cutthroat competitiveness. Those rumors are ridiculous and baseless. From the moment I entered the institution, I was enveloped in friendship, support and respect from my peers. Students go out of their way to help one another in personal, professional and educational ways. --Finance

I believe that the learning experience at Harvard Business School is unique because of its size and the case method. Students have exposure to and can learn from 900 different experiences, viewpoints, and personalities. I also feel that the first year spent in a cohort (versus one semester in other schools) enables students to master speaking in front of large groups of people with confidence, as you really get to know your cohort intimately. --Marketing

HBS is a life-changing experience. You walk away with the greatest seal of approval available, which opens more doors than you can imagine. Your classmates and professors challenge your thinking and you find yourself looking at the world in a new way almost immediately. Students feel lucky to be a part of the community and they view each other with admiration and respect and forming bonds of friendship (not just networking) that I believe will last a lifetime. HBS is such a fun place too - I never expected the social scene to be so great!--Entrepreneurship

HBS is an amazing place. The students are so dynamic and inspiring and the faculty and staff are totally dedicated to students. The residential campus is beautiful. I formed friendships and had experiences that will last a lifetime. I learned a lot and am a different, better person now.--Marketing

The quality of professors, interaction with students, and rigor of program far exceeded my expectations. I graduated knowing I can excel in an industry in which I had no previous experience.--Entrepreneurship

Cliche but true: best two years of my life. Education: excellent. Friendships gained: even better.--Consulting

HBS has one of, if not the most diversified student bodies of any programs and leverages this diversity actively in the classroom, from cases to hanging more than 20 flags representing the home countries of all students in the first-year classrooms.--Venture Capital/Private Equity
